The Making of Mafia Showdown Artwork

One year has passed very fast, now I'm helping out my company for our DnD again. This will be the 3rd time for me to attend our company DnD if I'm attending it and this time we are having a mafia theme with our dinner held on cruise.
The project this time is interesting and my job is to conceptualize some mafia related visuals that can be used for the official artwork. I drew 2 characters for this event; the chubby cute god father and the his sexy secretary/assasin. The following detailed the process of the making of these 2 characters.

Creation of the chubby godfather
Sketch out the main outline of the character

Add color the suit, collar and tie, afterwhich, add some shadow to give alittle more realism

Add color for the skin and the sunglasses. I have choose red for the sunglasses to give him a more fashionable feel

Finally, give an add an overall shadow that give the character even more realism. Complete the drawing with the hair colors too.

Convert the artwork to black and white (eventually the artwork is going to be in black and white, it'll look more mafia but the real reason is actually to cut cost on the printing.)

Sketching out the main outline of the character

Add color and give a basic shading to the skin tone

Add a dark black tone to the dress and the hat of the assasin. Give a smooth shading to make the dress looks more silky and hugging to her skin. Add color and shading to her gun too.

Now, I'll work the eyes and the lips. Examine the drawing and see where else can I improve and touch up. Add some glow on the breast area and her left arm to show the light direction and make the drawing more 3D.

Finally, convert the artwork to black and white, just like the old man.

Now, I need to work on piecing the characters together to form a unified theme for the artwork is going to be used officially. First, I set my art area on photoshop. I also marked out the crop mark so that I'll have extra bleed area when I send the artwork for print.

I tried to place the artwork on the artboard and move on when I feel that the placement is balance and feels right.
Next, Give the artwork some background to make the overall visual more interesting. In here, I just used some image I grapped off the web while goggle.

Then, I typed out the main headline "Mafia Showdown" and choose the right typeface that looks "mafia". I choose the font name impact for its fat bold look.

Finally, add some effects to the text and make the headline more interesting. Convert the overall artwork into grayscale.

Wala.. I'm done.
Though the drawing is still not very good yet in my opinion, still trying to get use with using the wacom to draw. Anyway, I will definitely improve more when I use it more often in the future.

Weekend Photosnapping

Trying to take a nice evening nap but very soon awoke up by the loud blast of hindi pop music down my house. Decided to go down and take a look and my eyes were filled with many many many indian neighbours all dancing like there's no tommorrow. All of them even the granny and granpa can really shake man. The music were blasting loudly and I'm begining to find a love in their hindi pop music. The beats were strong and felt very tribal. The sound is really interesting and I can feel a urge to join them with the dancing. Too bad I'm having my bulky camera with me :( May be if they still organize this event next year, I'll try to go little india and buy one indian traditional costume and join them with the dance. I must say the night is magical and I feel like I'm being dragged into some kind of hindi spell into their version of lalaland. There are strong atmosphere of hindi friendship around the air *not those we smelt around little india. lol.. I think they have something we chinese learn, that is life is not just about work and earn big bucks. You also need event like this that helps you to unwind and feel the cultural bonding that gives you the feeling that you are not alone in this world. sometimes I hate to be chinese...

The morning was rainy and I woke up around 8:30 to prepare myself for the photoshoot of sylvie's bro wedding. I was packing up the neccessary equipments, counting.. lens, flash light, AA size battery and spare camera battery !!! Gosh, realize I couldn't find my spare camera battery. It took me around 1 hour to look around my house but still I couldn't find it. No choice, I'm heading to the grand copthorne hotel with a uneased mind, praying hard my batter (fully charged) can last me throughout the shoot. Luckily the phototaking went smoothly and here's the prized photo of the newly wed's special moments. ( to view all the photo, go to my facebook and see)

A New Interesting FastFood - The R Burger

The burger it self has patties similar to the Mos Burger kind. The one I brought to try is a terriyaki burger. Covered with Chinese made bun (bao zhi) rather than those bread commonly used in most burgers, the R burger gives a unique taste and does't taste oily or unhealthy. It also claims that each of their burger contains 1000mg of collagen. ( haha can helps skin to look younger sia )

The revamp of Burger King
The Burger King outlet is no longer furnished with the old, sian and boring (red themed) interiors layout. It now has a more hippy and RNB feel.. see the entrace painted plainly with black matched with gold plated metalic Brand Logo can tell already.

Not far away from the burger king outlet, there's a little booth where you can make your own t-shirt. At the price of around 40 SGD, you can use their system, drag and drop to the template show on the monitor, resize, rotate your images (can drag as many you want, but careful not to turn your design into rojak lo...)

8:50am : Leave house
9:00am : Reach office, tap in by scanning my thumbprint (sometimes can be fustrating as the machine is not very sensitive and may not detect my thumbprint)
9:15am : Check emails and see if there's any new job need to do
9:30am : Start work
1:00pm : Lunch time (cracking of where to have lunch is always a headache)
2:00pm : Back to office, work again (may chit chat with colleagues to kill of the sleepy bug first)
5:00pm : Start to countdown the last hour before knock off
6:00pm : End workday. Dota time with colleagues (If no OT)
7:30pm : Leave office, go home or go town

Xuan ordered this Chili Crab Spagetti. Doesn't look very nice.

The Rip Eyes Steak (medium rare) which I ordered. Wasn't very fantasic and it's not even cooked to medium rare. I was like chewing a piece of overly bloody meat.

The grilled fish fillet was edible, but please do not expect better. You might be able to get something better from nearby coffeeshop.

We took the above mentioned dishes from Swensen Tampines. In my opinion, Swensen wasn't too bad. But this branch in Tampines, friends, I think you guys better don't go unless really no choice. Apart from overly priced, low quality food, what's pissed us most are the heck care attitude from their staffs. You ordered you food, you wait for very long, you fetch somebody over to ask for help to check your order,he/she gives you a can't be bothered look and walk away. You continue to wait and wait. You asked for water refill, they pass you a bottle and ask you to refill yourself. That's what we recieved for the 10% service charge paid.

The Street Figher 4 Fever has begun !!!

It's the Street Fighter maniac again. Some have waited, dreamt this day to come, where they get to pick their all-time favourite fighter, eg. Ken and Ryu to do some holyshit moves. To people like me who has been playing street fighter since primary school days would find SF 4 to be super addictive. The gameplay became simpler in this version. There are no air block, different super combo and counter attack.

There's only one super combo move for every fighter now. Just a different between a normal super combo or an ultra super combo where of course, the later deals much greater damage.So far from what I heard, there's only a few places that can play SF 4 and in many places, you have to queue for some time before you actually get the change to play.

One good feature which I feel deserve praise is the beginner mode system. By choose this mode to play instead to usual arcade mode, you get to play your character in an easy mode game for 3 rounds, only after the 3 rounds, then challenger could challenge you. This great for noobie or when you want to train a particular character and playing him/her abit to try hyim/her out.

Millions of WOW gamers waited, and this day finally arrived. The LichKing Expansion set was finally launched on last friday. The event was held at Safra's GameHaven, located at carpenter street. Some hardcore WoW gamers were seen a day before to start queueing. The first in the queue got himself the WOW LichKing Collector's box set that could made many local gamers drool with envy. Inside the Collector's box set has the official cinematic artwork and official soundtrack CD. In addition, it comes with a cool, rare in-game pets if I was not mistaken. [This is what the gamers really want].

This is GameHaven! Looks Big [but please look closer, there's an area being reflected by mirror, so its actually not as big as it seems]

The first person in the queue, sleeping over since the day before and is enjoying himself in his own dreamland. Waiting for the fateful time where he was destined to get the LichKing Collector's boxset due to his effort.

Yet another gamer proved how devoted he can when it comes to WOW [world of warcraft].

As the Launch time draw closer, Gamers who came late and were surprised to see the lengthy queue tried the alternatives; calling friends who are in the queue or establishing friendship to get stranger to help redemn their boxset. Well, Is our singapore WOW gamers really that kind. Let's see.

Giving Back to the Society

For confidentiality, the childrens' photo are mosaiced. We took this photo after the whole events. Can you spot where I am ?

A meaningful week. Why? Because I had visited a childrens' home together with a couple of friends to make some efforts in community service. Our job there are simple. We just need to spend time accompany these kids, teach them elementary maths, guide them in their homework, play with them and show that there are still people around them care for them. A majority of the children here came from a broken family, with their parents either divorced or unable to take good care of them. Some of them, their father/mother is jailed and thus no one to take care of them. It was therefore really a great opportunity for me to be able to do something for them over this weekend. Thanks Alvin for organising this and the rest of his MR-S club friends like, Jane, Steven and Aric. It's definitely not an usual sight to see so many sports car came together for a good cause.
Alvin gave a brillant idea to give these kids a tour on these cars. Bad Idea! These kids very soon turned monstrous as they hammered the horn, jumped on the seats, twist the mirrors and even scatched the car beside while opening the sidedoor. I can see some of the driver sobbing already. keke.
To conclude, it was a really fun saturday and a fabulous weekend I had. A great contrast to the horrible weekend I had the week before.

Tantalizing, Mouth-Watering, Delicious. As I'm a hot fan of Aston Steak, I'm going to say that the steak here is comparable to Aston in the mid range pricing. This place was recommended by Candy because she got so happy with the friendly boss who has BRIBED her with some specially cooked food out of her order. Though I din't experienced the same treatment (probably because I'm not wearing skirt : ), but Im going to say that this is one of the Great place for Steak with your special someone over this weekend. Price range is about $8-13. Just a Note, because the food centre is opened air, so be sure to bring your umbrella just in case you caught yourself in downpour with you love in this rainy season.

Glutton me took a slice of Xiaohui BBQ chicken and try. Hmm... the meat is tender and taste great with the BBQ sauce. I would say it tasted much better than my steak. New York Steak $29.99 SGD
I ordered this steak to be done medium well. However, it came like it was fully done. The Meat was stiff and not juicy at all. Don't waste your money at their steak over here. Try the steak at Aston instead.

Toy Shopping @ China Square

I have heard so much about how wonderful it is at China Square for Toy/model shopping. I have always wanted to go down and take a look and Finally here I'm today! ^^
I saw this night elf druid which I really like, however, it was not sold separately but in a set of 4 for $100. Therefore, I end up buying the whole set [WOW series 2 figurine] after thinking that the deal is great [very cheap, $25 per figurine] ^o ^
After shopping, me, Candy Adrian and Jasper went to eat dessert at a nearby hongkong style dessert shop. Look at this Peanut Paste with Peanuts balls. It's THICK and Yummy!. The peanut balls are great too [Taste like little chocholate flakes when you crunch down a kit kat bar.]
Yang Tze Gan Lu [Mango based dessert] with Ice Soya Drink. Bliessfully marriage for great taste!

When we are done with China Town, we went to Plaza Sing. To my surprise, the top level of PS has been revamp with half of GV space filled with Toy/Game shops. Another surprise for me is I found this Ilidan WoW figurine at only $58 , cheaper than what I asked at China Square. [who say shopping malls products are neccessary expensive.]

This BBQ/Curry Chicken Rice with Egg is one of the nicest dish you could try when you are at PS food court.

Another dish is the Tom Yam Mee Tai Mak which Candy gave great praises. I nodded to the praises too. [unfortunatelly I didn't take a picture of it]

Combat Arms Craze - Calling All Recruits

Recently, Combat Arms has captivated my heart as well as a couple of my beloved colleagues. It has became a game that we MUST PLAY after working hours and I want to share with you guys the reason WHY ?
To begin, Combat Arms is a Free to Play online FPS [ first person shooting] game, operated by Nexon America. It was published this year and it offers an unique gaming system, where players can level up their rank as they played the game long enough, pretty uncommon in FPS game. Good news for new players, you don't need to be Super Pro inorder to enjoy some first blood in this game. The weapons given to you on default has above average power, which means you probably won't become a easy target board, powerless against the pro with better armor and equipments.
Enjoy the cool art work as you load up your game.
At the end of each game, you will be awarded with GP (In game currency). When you earned enough GP, you may visit the weapon shop to purchase some new weapons. Hopefully, with stronger firepower and reducing of firing sound with supressor, your odds of surviving the game longer would be higher.
Look at the Rank beside the IGN (In game Nick). In the begining, you are a recruit, to be bullied by everyone higher rank than you (no choice abt this, same as Army). Then subsequently get promoted to Lance corporal, corporal, sergeant, second segeant, first segeant, master segeant, Worrent officer. With each rank progression, you get a huge amount of GP and new items available for you to purchase.

Junk Flea - Here's is the most popular killing ground in combat arms. A relatively small map and games progress quickly, meaning you can rack your experience quick and enjoy the fun of killing.

Snow valley - Huge map, lots of hiding places. Snow valley is really Snipers' playground. (there are really alot of snipers in this place) Thus, if you decided to play here, make sure you have racked up enough experience to tackle those sneaky snipers. Getting a Good sniper rifle is a MUST.

NEW KILLING GROUND - Brush Wood. This is the latest Map which was updated on 11 Sept 2008.

Two Tower - Another Favourite Playground for the sniper. Look at the potential to hide yourself for a sneaky kill in this place in the screenshot below.

Cold Seed - Medium Size battle ground.

Something you might not know about Window Vista

Something interesting which I have found out over the weekend, your window vista requires you to have 15 GB of empty harddisk space before it could run at optimal perfomance or rather acceptable performance. P.S : No wonder my com has been running like tortise. Thatá why I HATE Window Vista.
If not there's the risk that I will face problems like missing drivers should I consider to kill Vista and go back to use Window XP, I would have done it long ago.

However fear not if any of you guys face the same problem as me.
This week I have came up with my simple solution; to really give a makeover to my "tortise"computer so that it will have more X factor. Giving it a 200 GB harddisk may have been overkill, but after I realised a SIGNIFICANT improvement in my computer speed, I would say its worth it. I have also replace my RAM from 2GB to 4GB. Double Combo! and now I finally able to do something nicer with photoshop and not feel like I want to smash the PC while it shows me the hour glass icon that seems to go on forever.

Thanks to Jane recommendation, I found this cozy chill out place at bukit timah area. Not a easy process by the way as the restaurant located in a super obscure area. You need to drive through a somewhat dark trail, (Smililar to those murder movies where murderer brought their dead victim to bury) get over a short underground tunnel, travel a short distant of dark road before you get to see the well lit restaurant. When you found it, it does give you a feel that you have got yourself into a fantasy land. It was very much a pleasant night for me with the fine red wine on my hand and nice friends around me, surrounded by great ambience. Through Jane, I got to know 2 new friends who I think are really nice person. They are Candy and Siwei. Hopefully we get the chance to meet up again and chill out.

Class Gathering - Retail Marketing Group [NUS]

It has been quite a while since we met up. Today, on the courtesy of Ann's planning, we went to Lau Pat Sa and have the Double S, Satay and Stingray. Yes yummies, and I forgotten to take photos this time round because I was too hungry and when the foods were served.. you know, photography became secondary.

Nightout with Jane and Justina

There are alot of things in my mind recently and I really don't want to think about it.
I told Jane that I need some more alchohol and din't drink enough on Sat, as a good friend she indeed is, she brought me along with Justina to drink again at her friend's birthday party @ fashion bar.
We din't stay long enough for the birthday party but moving from places to places to take pictures of ourselves in almost every expression, i.e happy, sad, yelling, crazy, jailed look.
It took us quite a while to decide whether to take pictures sitting on the diaplay chair just outside Clinic. But once we did that, the rest of the people follows. : ) It just showed that alot of people wanted to do the same as us, but they think, we DID !

Frankly, I don't expect to have an enjoyable night but a few glass of alcohol to keep me away from my troubled thoughts. but somehow, with Jane and Justina around, the night just seems to become so enjoyable. Thank you Jane and Justina!

很想继续陪伴在她的身边，成为她支柱，可惜的是目前的我不够成熟，无法给予她所需要的肩膀和依靠。
我是一只喜欢筑梦的小双鱼，曾不切实际得以为让感情自然的发展，默默的陪伴她度过她伤心的过去，总有一天会期盼到属于双方的幸福，筑成一个完美的梦。可是我错了，被她的伤感蒙蔽了我的双眼而没看出她其实渴望被一只坚硬的胳臂搂着，是我的疏忽。她选择的男人却看出了。或许真如她所说，这个男人是她所碰过最具智慧的，我也不够他体贴.

输了，我无悔，因为该做的事已经做了。尽管自己还是有点伤感，可是只要她幸福，我就会为她开心。
我不想也不会忘记她。
在自己的心中，我为她留个房间，钥匙放在她的手上。
有需要时，我心中的房间会为她开放。

Weekend Movie Marathon

Lost in directions ? Troubled with problems ? Looking for ways to change yourself ?
Why not try to watch a few good movies and hopefully learn something from the actors. Probably the characters in a particular movie possess just the right solution to solve your everyday problems.

This weekend, I am happy to have my dear colleagues, Louis and kelly to come over my hse for movie marathon session, with a bottle of corona and hooch holding in our hands.

We watched "Patch Adams" and "Akeelah and the bees".

Patch Adams - Some would have give it a pass to watch this movie because of the year it was produced (1998) . However, the intelligence and the lessons that you get to learn from this movie, I promised, it's golden and universal, even timeless can be used to describe.
For example, let's look at the following conversation between by Patch Adams (played by Robin william) and Arthur ( Guy in the mental hospital).

Hunter Patch Adams: We need to start treating the patient as well as the disease.
Hunter Patch Adams: We can head on down to the maternity ward. You know those chicks put out.
Arthur Mendelson: How many fingers do you see?
Hunter Patch Adams: Four.
Arthur Mendelson: No no! Look beyond the fingers! Now tell me how many you see.
Arthur Mendelson: You're focusing on the problem. If you focus on the problem, you can't see the solution. Never focus on the problem!
Arthur Mendelson: See what no one else sees. See what everyone chooses not to see... out of fear, conformity or laziness. See the whole world anew each day!

Does it ring a bell to you? May be you are facing problems that is catching too much of your attention that the problems start to cloud your vision and block your ability to come out with solutions. Learning from Patch, we could look further beyond the problems itself, that the right solution will surface naturally.

I got another example from Akeelah and the bees but let me give you a brief intro about this movie because some might not know what's this show is about.

In this movie, you get to see how Akeelah ( a black girl who is gifted on this national game "spelling bees" that is mainly the game for the white kids) In participating the competition, she represents her neighbourhood to battle against the white kids and earn some self esteen for herselves. Throughout her competition, she faced disagreements from her mom, her friends but that doesn't stop her in becoming the champion of the game where we could marvelled at how much courage this little girl possessed, that even an adult should look up.

Okie that's about the summary and here I present another example.

Akeelah: [quoting Marianne Williamson] Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same.

I really love the line "Actually, who are you not to be? " Indeed, you are beautiful, only because you hold that strong believe in yourself. Even if you probably are not born with the most symmetrical facial shapes, by believing in yourself that you are truely beautiful, gorgeous or talented will give you that naturally glow that some might call "X factor"

Even the recent best selling book "Secrets" teaches this same knowledge to millions of readers where they could have just learn it from this movie. "In believing in yourself and setting the goals to what you wished to achieved, you naturally attract success to youself."

Wow, I think I just unconsiously turn this post into an essay. I think I better stop here, despite this weekend I have watched also, "The Bucket List", "Micheal Cliton", "881" "一个好爸爸" "Get Smart" "Step up 2"

Audition Clubber of the Year

Jiggle^^ The 4 judges (me inclusive) for the Audition's Mr Clubber and Miss Clubber compeition were happily posing with their best outfit. Credit has to be given to my boss kenneth on this shot for the way he removed reflection off our shades as well as the efforts that make the picture well lit (with 1/8 shutter speed at around 7pm indoor condition, it's really amazing that this picture doesn't turn out blur).
The contestants for the competition are really amazing people. On the extreme left, we have this guy (first runner up) who made his own costume for this event. Though he's quite a shy guy to me, but when it comes to illustrating his designs, he's loud, just as he showed us with the fashion design he did on stage. Following on his left, this girl went from a nervous contestant to emerging as the winner. Next, we have this adorable girl (first runner up) who possesses great punk dress sense which resemble Audition In-game characters. Last, we have this Mr Clubber (Winner) who has managed to attracts lots of votes from the audiences.

There's a new japanese restaurant - Nihon Mura opened at the Tampines Swimming Complex.
(well, bad news for those who goes to Gym and found themselves drooling after their hard workout leaving the complex)

While this may not be the best Japanese restaurant that you can find in Singapore,
its ambience and the 99cents sushis on its conveyor belt are good reasons for you to pop by.
Did I mentioned that they serve great desserts at affordable prices ?
Go there for their Mango Ice, Greentea Ice Cream.
Chocolate & Vanilla ice cream are to be ordered only when you really crave for them because they taste like walls ice cream tub that you can buy from super market.

The "NEW" Incredible hulk

While I'm still recovering from my fever which got me to sleep through the whole friday, Mei mei brought news to me on sat morning to inform me that she has gotten a pair of extra tickets for this block buster. I immediately travelled down to GV marina with Noel to catch the movie, even on a 2 hour notice to get me dressed up and out of my house.

Turns out, this movie is indeed one that is worthy of my precious saturday time.
To be frank, I went into the cinema with only moderate expectation as the trailer din't impress me much. Worse, I think the trailer showed me a crazy, brainess creatures wracking havoc with his brutal strength without clear purposes, don't even mentioned I expect decent plot for this movie.

I feared it will turn out to be like the horrendous first movie of "The Incredible Hulk" directed by director Lee Ang.

Luckily, unlike its predecessor, this "New" Incredible Hulk has great supense sustained throughout the film and according to Noel, he said that this movie "seems to make his heart stops" at alot of scene. I share the same opinion.

A summary of this movie, this film is all about the US military chasing after Bruce Banner (Hulk Starred Edward Norton), an escape of the US Super soldier experiment. The US military hopes to recover Hulk as the experiments subjects and in the process, created another Hulk-like monster which eventually turns to be more desctrutive and uncontroller than Hulk. Eventually the Us military require Hulk's power to save the day.

Perhaps what make this movie GREAT is the existence of a TRUE GREAT VILLIAN that legitimates the righteousness of the hero. This makes the hero meaningful and we therefore want to see more of his action as he kicks the villian's ass. [Note: in the first Incredible Hulk movie , the most powerful enemies I recalled are only mutated dogs and perhaps some heavily armed tanks and aircrafts. The hero's overpowering strength, combined lousy enemies, only weakened the plot of the movie and flop it.

On personal preference, I would say that the Iron Man is still the coolest superhero film of this year, but this "New" Incredible Hulk movies still deserves a 4/5 stars from me and worth every dollars you spent to catch a glimpse of the impressive computer graphics (CG) that really WOW.

还有机会享用 Noel 亲手烹调的牛扒(一级棒).
星期六陪同 Kelly 做亲善大使,接待她英国回来的朋友,借故在到 St James Power House 劲舞.
星期天休息.
今天又心血来潮地应按 Louis 一句"要看 "Kong Fu Panda" 吗? 而真的与 Kelly Adrian Candy 一起跑去看了 (超搞笑地).

Donuts is a big business now and new shops are sprouting around Singapore continuously. Singaporean is now very willing to pay for donuts like the image below, even if it means they have to Q for 30mins.

I bet the bosses for these donuts chains must be smilling happily , till mouth wide open now.
But really, hat off to these bosses for their ability to turn dull looking donuts into something that look cute, colorful and also tasty. To a certain extend, I think the donuts looks like collectibles that you just have to buy in dozens and once you brought, you cant bear to eat them. ^ ^

Alice in the wonderland - In Singapore

I heard this "Jewel Box" is a great dinning place. Went in take a look at it really has splendid view overlooking the Sentosa. But beware, the price is steep. If you want to bring your date there, make sure you are loaded with cash. A cup of wine is not very expensive though, around 16-18SGD for a cup of martini.

There are dinning in the cable cars available from here too. You'll be served the food and put in the cable car to enjoy the great scenery at bird eye view. ^ ^ then you'll just sit in the cable car while it goes through and flow.

This bottle of coke saves the day.
Yes my favourite black pepper salmon fish rice when I got back to tampines (where we called "blk 201 central coffee shop") those who stay nearby will know. ^ ^

Sat Night Out At Ben & Jerry's

It's an boring sat night and I am beginining to ring and text friends to see who's available to go out. Turns out that my HK group of friends are at dempsy road enjoying themselves.
Soon, I found myself seated at THE WINE COMPANY (though I din't drink any sip of wine) and pester them for go eat Ice cream, turns out that Ben & Jerrys is just right at the corner.

There is something I really have recomment you guys this sinful sweety.
The DarkChocolate Ice Cream with Waffle.
When its topped with the nutty nuts and the creamy hot fudge,
its simply heavenly, equally sinful !

Pulau Ubin Biking Adventure

No idea of where to go over the weekend ?
Why not make a trip to Pulau Ubin.
The benefits are plenty,
1. You get healthier, becos you'll really sweat it out (Trust me).
2. An outdoor experience you won't usually experience while in Singapore (Army Experience excluded).
3. It doesn't cost much.

Since we are at Changi Village, how can we not order a plate of the famous Nasi Lemak.
You'll get TASTY RICE with CRISPY FRIED CHICKEN with EGG at the price of SGD $2.50.
Indeed, it's a bargain but in my opinio, it's standard has dropped compared to last time.
Score : 3/5

To reach Pulau Ubin, you need to travel by these boats. Tickets at SGD 2-2.50 (Varies between Boat Owner)

We DID eventually make it back to the ferry terminal ONTIME to return our bicycle after some trial and error venture of a few trails. ^ ^

It's already late evening by this time. We each brought one coconut juice to drink and enjoy the nice scenic sunset while on the boat back to Singapore.

Fabulous Beef @ Aston

If you have a friend who is visiting Singapore from another country, where would you bring him/her to? For us, we choose to bring Woo ( Our Asiasoft KL colleague) to Aston ! Located at the Katong Shopping centre area (opposite the HK style restuarant "Lao Xiang Gang").

This is the cream of mushroom soup I has ordered. One of the better soup I has tasted lately and the better things is, it cost only a mere SGD $2.50. Score: 4 out of 5

Since Aston is known well for its steak, we have high standards of it before before our foods were served. Indeed, it really didn't dissapoint us. LOOK at the BBQ GRAVVY and the SUCCELENT JUICY BEEF ! Score : 5/5

We had a wondeful day and a wonderful dinner, isn't it already written on our faces ? ^ o ^

I was bored in the office on friday night, so took Melissa's Wacom Tablet to try doodle with it in Photoshop.
Wacom Tablet is really cool!!!
The pen's is good and allow me better control.. at least better than my genius tablet at home.

Arr... tempted to get a Wacom myself.

第五日台湾九份游 Day 5 - Taiwan(Jiu Fen) Tour

Day 5

My journey start late that day since I woke up late in the afternoon. My initial plan is to head to jiu fen early and make it in time to Dan Shui in the afternoon. then go to Wu Fen Pu to do some last minute shopping in the evening.

In the end, I only get to Jiu Fen and Wu fen Pu after that since I woke up late and the train and bus took longer time than I expected to reach Jiu Fen.

However, this trip is probably my most memorable trip throughout my Taiwan tour.
Not only did I got to see great scenery and nice buildings, I also made some new friends along the way (while asking for directions) who brought me to nice foods. We had a game of dodgeball with the strongest dodgeball team (primary school) in Taipei too. Sidenote : Our team which consisted of guys and girls in the upper secondary, including me, was completely wiped out.
When the game ended, it's just about time to view the beautiful sunset.
Took a few pic of the sunset, then we are heading to the nearest bus stop to bring us back to the railway station. Along the ways, I also brought some tai yang bing to bring back Singapore for my colleagues.

During the train journey back, my new friends taught me a casual game, similar to what we played when we are kids in Singapore. The rule of the game is you sing to a melody and when the melody ended, put out your fingers, your finger may range between 1-5 and then someone need to total up the number of fingers and start to count the person in either clockwise or anti clockwise direction. It happened that I was being pointed to once and I need to be punished for that. My punishment: to do a dance with another girl in our group on the train. The public eyes would make you feel alittle embarassed. But who cares, it's in the foreign land, not like anyone know me here. hehe I just need to get over with it quick and put it over my mind after that will do.

Very soon, I reached my train station and need to get down before my newly made friends. Time really flies and I already begining to miss them and can't bear to get off the train... but still, I have to get down.

No time to think more into it and I channeled whichever sad feelings into shopping mode at Wu Fen Pu.
The day ended with some bargain I got from there. =)

我这天的行程开始得有点晚。本来，我打算早起去九份，然后中午到淡水走走，晚上再到五分埔作最后的购物。
可是，由于本人贪睡与搭火车/巴士的时间超出我的预定时间，我只到九份与五分埔。

不过，这趟九份游带给我的，无可置疑地是我在台湾最难忘的回忆。
我不仅有机会游览到九份那令人着迷的景色与陈年建筑，还有缘结交到一群友善热情的朋友(问路是认识的)。
我随他们走访充满特色的九份老街，沿途品尝美食，也跟当地被誉为“台湾就强”的小学朋友进行了一场躲避球赛。注！我们的队伍成员虽然都是高中生级的青年，可是都败地惨不忍睹。

当游戏结束后，很快的，太阳也下山了。
我拍了几张夕阳照后，我们就准备搭巴士回火车站了。
途中，我也买了两盒太阳饼准备带回新家玻给同事。

搭火车的路程中，我还学到了一种点兵类的游戏，游戏规则是每人得唱着“数枝，数枝，最多五枝”然后伸出手指（一到五根手指），总计全部人的手指数目后开时点算，被点到的人要受罚。我被罚在火车上与一位男生共舞，（有点丢脸，不过愿玩服输，没办法）还好我自己没录下我笨拙的舞姿，所以我就当没这回事吧。
这一天，就以我在五分埔买到的购物战利品而告一段落。=）

Jiu Fen Special Beef Ball. The meat is okay but the jelly like ingredient taste weird to me. It's not a bad dish though. Cost 40NT

Another Jiu Fen's delicacy. Its taste is abit sweet, not my kind of food. Cost 35NT

This is nostagic. Remind me the good old days when I will buy one of these and keep blowing up bubbles. Burst them after that.

Now you don't see this kind of bottled coke in Singapore. But it's pretty common to see them in southeast asia. Usually you need to drink on the spot and return them the bottle. They will tell you its for recycling purposes, but its more like they can earn back a few bucks from the old bottles.

We climbed up to the top of Jiu Fen Old Street and discover this really nice dessert stall.

The taste of it is heavenly. It's cold and refreshing with every scoop into the mouth.
You just feel that it's never enough and wanted more of it.

See the lovely smile on them while they savour the delicious dessert.
No one is really complaining.

Looking far, I am missing my friends in Singapore.

These kids is formidable. We are being trashed like tofu as they canon their ball on us, almost one hit one kill.

Heading home, we are on our way to the bus stop to make it to the nearest train station.

This is the train "Bian Dang". It looks normal but taste great. Selling at 50NT (~2.5SGD)

第四日- 购物了2 之再战西门町，逛士林夜市。

Day4

This morning, I am having dumping and carrotcake for my breadfast. The dumpling taste like the Ding Tai Feng one, which has soup inside them. Yummy * hungry*. Very quickly I finish one box already. Now, full of energy, I am ready to storm down Xi Men Ding Once more to explore deeper in Ximending.

This time at Ximending, din't buy anything and discovered anything more special than what I found the day before. In the afternoon, decided to treat myself something nice. Brought my mom to this restaurant called Tamago.

Their goodies is similar to Thailand Pattaya Rice (Egg wrapped Fried Rice). There are alot of dishes are made together with eggs. I would say the food here is nice and deserve a 4 stars out of Five. Took a few photo of it and went back to walk walk Xi Men Ding again.

I went to the famous "Shi Lin" night market. Yes, it's the place where the chicken cutlet is really BIG and juicy. But what not alot of people know is, there are also very good Hao Zai Jian, Smelly tofu and Mango Ice here too. When you talk about food, this has to be the number 1 place to visit. When talk abt clothes, its Wu Fen Pu.

After a few hrs of walking ard and snapping whatever I see off into my lens. It's about time to make my trip back to my hostel in Xi Men Ding. This time, I caught a glimsp of Xi Men Ding beauty in the nite time. Needless to say, it's captured into my lens without fail.

台北背包宿舍公开！

This is where I am going to spend 2 nights in Tai Pei, Xi Mending. It's a hostel for backpacker traveller. You can expect to see people from all parts of Asia here, sometimes even from European countries. But during my stay, there are mostly Singaporean and Hongkong.

My friend, Take down the address, if you are interested to hop in for a stay in the future. It cost me 350 NT (~SGD17.25) per night.

Past travellere post their memories at the main hall. Hopefully I'll get my photo up on the wall to see it again when I get back to Taiwan for another trip.

Television is provided.

This guy beside me is a new friend of mine from Germany.

There are countless catalogs and guides where you can take advantage to find out the "where to go" for Taiwan.
If you have forgotten your shampoo or Body foam, you may "borrow" some from their collection. ^ ^

There are internet connection services available in the hostel. If you ever get here, take the computer on the left. The right PC just run like tortise.

Every user are limited to only 30 minutes of usage. Of course, if there is no people on the Q, you may use longer.

Lockers are here to protect your valuables and give you a peace of mind when you sleep or out of the hostel.

There are alot of magazines to keep you entertain, mostly lifestyles and fashion of Taiwanese Culture.

This is the toilet. One cubicle with toilet bowl and another cubicle for bathing. There are 2 toilet in the hostel.

If you want some testimonials about the hostel, there are plenty.

第三日西门町购物乐 Day 3, Xi Men Ding Shopping Spree

Day 4

We woke up around 10pm today and took the MRT to the Zhong Zhen Ji Lin Guan. Took some pictures there and we proceed to Xi Men Ding for our lunch soon.

As what everyone knows, Xi Men Ding is currently the most happening place in Tai Pei, where the latest fashion triump. You can find alot of nice clothes and accessories here. As it is the change season period now, one may find that their winter clothes are being sold at a bargain price.

We keep walking and I ask around the passer by for good food infomation inorder to find a good place to dine. We stopped at a Hao Zai Jian (蚝仔煎) shop and really refill our stomach with energy for the afternoon shopping spree which is gonna to be burst within us.
Shopping itself took 4 straight hours away. As usual, my shopping goes hand in hand with chunking yummy food whenever I goes.

我们大概10点钟起床，稍微梳洗一下便搭乘捷运到中正纪念馆去。在那儿摄了几张相，之后便快速再搭捷运到西门町去找午餐吃。

就像许多人都知道的，西门町是一个最新潮流的聚合地。在这里，你不愁买不到最新款的服装与饰品，还有无尽的潮流新鲜人穿戴着各式各样的发型与装扮供你参考什么是最 "IN" 的装扮。
现在这个时候正当台湾换季的时候，所以很多好看的冬装买的超便宜的。虽然所新加玻四季如一，但是如果你运气好的话，可能可以挖掘到既漂亮又较薄的服装。

我们继续走着，而我也边向路过的行人打听好吃的食物情报。最后我们打听到有一家味道不错的蚝仔煎食铺，便走进去试试。试过后味道还真的很不错。

吃饱后，我便去走走逛逛。这么一逛四小时很快便过去了。
当然，边走边享用西门町的街边美食是少不了的。

台湾高铁: 真的是超快的. 从高雄到台北只需大概一小时三十分钟.
